Driving AccessoriesIn addition to hand controls, Performance Mobility installs other types of adaptive driving equipment including: Spinner knobs, turn signal cross-overs, key extensions, power parking brakes and parking brake extensions, left foot gas pedals, pedal extensions as well as driver training brakes. While some adaptions may seem like a simple item, if you need it, it can make all the difference in your driving safely and comfortably. Whatever your disability or special driving need, Performance Mobility probably has the answer for you.
Power Parking Brake and Parking Brake ExtentionsAll vehicles come with a parking brake. It is a safety feature installed by vehicle manufacturers to ensure your vehicle does not move or roll when in park. If you have limited mobility, setting and releasing the brake can be a challenge. A parking brake extension is installed on the existing set and release foot pedal and is operated manually. A power parking brake is electronic and sets and releases the parking brake with the touch of a button. Performance Mobility has both in stock and can assist you in choosing the right option. Pedal ExtensionsIt is recommended that drivers be at least 10” from their air-bag in case of deployment. If you move your seat forward so far and it puts you closer to your airbag than the recommended distance, pedal extensions may be for you. Performance Mobility custom fits you and your vehicle and builds extensions just for you to ensure your safety and comfort.
Left Foot Gas PedalA left foot gas pedal is used for a person who has limited function, movement, or sensation in the right leg or foot, allowing the user to accelerate using the left foot. All left foot gas pedals come with a guard to prevent the driver from inadvertently resting their right foot on the accelerator pedal. The left foot gas pedal incorporates a quick release mechanism and is easily removable for ambulatory drivers, without tools. Spinner KnobsIf you have reduced strength in your arms or wrists, a spinner knob can be attached to your steering wheel to assist you in turning. Performance Mobility carries a complete selection including regular knobs, amputee spinners, tri-pin attachments and quad forks. High tech spinner knobs are also available. With the touch of a button on your steering wheel, you can operate your headlights, horn, or wipers, allowing you to keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Turn signal cross-overHave limited mobility in one hand and can’t reach up to use your turn signal? A turn signal cross over moves your factory turn signal function from one side to the other. This allows you to use your “good” hand to turn this important driving feature on and off. The items listed above are just some of the items available to you for adaptive driving. Whatever your special need is, Performance Mobility probably has the answer for you. Let our expert sales and service staff assist you today and get you back out on the road safely. |
