Company History

Performance Mobility, Inc. was co-founded in 1993 by Charley Hexom. An Oregon native, and paraplegic since 1970, Charley was uniquely suited to starting a business providing mobility services. Charley loved to drive and felt that anyone else who wished to should be able to drive as well. Performance Mobility was founded on that doctrine and the same philosophy still holds true today.

Prior to starting Performance Mobility, Charley had an extensive career in the automotive body shop business and was therefore no stranger to vehicle modifications. In addition, Charley was innovative in creating adaptive equipment for his own vehicles, airplanes, racecars and farm equipment. Charley was the first paraplegic to receive a national Sports Car Club of America competition license, ultimately competing and finishing third at the National runoffs.

customer commitment

While building Performance Mobility, Charley hired and trained his employees to follow his philosophies and precepts. Above all else, these included treating customers with honesty and integrity. Charley was committed to selling the customer what they needed, not what he had in stock. This commitment to his customers, and employees, has made Performance Mobility one of the premier adaptive equipment dealers on the west coast.

Charley passed away in early 2004, but his wife, and all the employees at Performance Mobility, remain committed to Charley’s vision. We at Performance Mobility, Inc., have pledged ourselves to ensure that Charley’s legacy lives on. We continue to do this on a daily basis by providing unparalleled care and compassion to our customers as well as knowledgeable sales and service staff.

Thank you very much for the kind, understanding professional work that you ALL did on my son's new Entervan. He came down to show his new wheels off to his Dad and me, his Mom. I took some pictures of it and he is very proud of the van, but more so of the concern and kindness that all of you gave to him. He has purchased vans before and tried to explain what he needs to drive and most of them (that are supposed to know disabled conditions) just look at him confused. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you at your place of business.
