For the cureCurrently, more than 30 people a day become paralyzed from spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D). This translates into nearly 11,000 new injuries every year. In the United States today, approximately 450,000 people live with spinal cord injury. (Statistics from the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center at the University of Alabama.) |
The Oregon Paralyzed Veterans of America has announced a new awareness campaign named FOR THE CURE.In the last two decades, The Paralyzed Veterans of American has raised over $5,000,000 for research that is focused on alleviating the effects of and finding a cure for SCI/D. These funds have also been used to educate individuals, communities and local government agencies on SCI/D knowledge and help improve the lives of those with SCI/D. The FOR THE CURE campaign will help find a cure for paralysis in addition to providing education on the obstacles and barriers of every life for those who live with a spinal cord injury or disease. Get involved and buy a red, white and blue FOR THE CURE wristband for $5.00. Share it and wear it proudly showing your support. Become part of a national movement to make a difference in the lives of future generations. You can currently purchase your bracelet at Performance Mobility, or donate on-line at the Oregon Paralyzed Veterans website: www.oregonpva.org |
